Duquesne Names New Associate Provost
Dr. Alexandra Gregory has begun work as associate academic vice president.

Campus Cooled with New Eco-Friendly Ice System
Coupling environmental responsibility with cutting-edge technology, Duquesne has implemented a highly efficient air conditioning system that relies on ice—the first of its kind in a Pittsburgh academic institution and the most efficient available.

Endowment Encourages Public Service
A $1.4 million gift from the estate of a Duquesne Law alumnus will provide loan repayment assistance to graduates pursuing public service careers.

Duquesne Students Garner Prestigious Telly Award
A team of Duquesne journalism students has received a 2008 Bronze Telly Award for their DUQ-TV News program about Winterfest at the Seven Springs Mountain Resort.

Mass of the Holy Spirit: Sunday, Aug. 24
Students, parents, alumni, faculty and staff of all faiths are welcome to attend the opening Mass of the new academic year at 11 a.m. in the Palumbo Center. The Most Rev. David A. Zubik, Bishop of Pittsburgh, and the Very Rev. Jeffrey Duaime, C.S.Sp., Spiritan Provincial, will officiate.

Red Dress Gala: Saturday, Sept. 13
The sisters of the Alpha Phi invite you to their inaugural Red Dress Gala at 6 p.m. in the Union Ballroom. The event includes a formal dinner, silent and Chinese auctions, a Red Dress Fashion Show and dancing. Semi-formal attire requested—wearing red is highly encouraged! Tickets are $30 per person. Green Chemistry: Solutions for a Healthy Economy: Saturday, Sept. 20

Financial planners are in high demand. Duquesne’s Executive Certificate in Financial Planning—designed for professionals in brokerage, insurance, accounting, banking, and related industries—begins Sept. 19. Dukes Tops on Academic Honor Roll
The Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll for Spring 2008 (3.5 GPA or better) included 116 Duquesne student athletes, more than any other conference member.

Football Broadcast Agreement Reached
Duquesne football will air on Pittsburgh’s AM News-Talk 1360 for the next two seasons. The season kicks off at Bucknell on Saturday, Sept. 6, with the home and NEC opener against St. Francis at newly-renovated Rooney Field on Sept. 20.

Fall Sports Gear Up
The fall sports season begins Friday, Aug. 29, with volleyball and men’s and women’s soccer all opening play. Check out all the schedules online at GoDuquesne.com.
