Get Involved

No matter where you are, you can still be involved in the life of Duquesne. To send us your volunteer interests, complete this form today. And while you’re at it, be sure to update your information so we can keep you informed of news, events and opportunities.

Recruit Students: Alumni of all ages can influence and encourage prospective students to attend Duquesne. Successful, established alumni demonstrate the enduring value of a Duquesne education. Younger alumni can relate their experiences with the vibrant student life on our Bluff. Together, we can recruit the best and brightest to follow in our footsteps. Duquesne Alumni Recruitment Team (DART) volunteers make a difference by:

  • Representing Duquesne and assisting Admissions staff at local college fairs
  • Identifying and referring prospective students
  • Attending and/or coordinating events for prospective students and families in your area
  • Communicating with prospects and referring their questions to campus offices
  • Promoting Duquesne academic programs through participation in online communities
  • Making "Welcome" phone calls to newly accepted students and their families
  • Hosting regional "send-off" receptions for new students and their parents

Career Mentoring and Networking: Duquesne offers a variety of career networking and mentoring opportunities benefiting students and alumni:

  • Attend Career Networking Events that bring alumni together to interact and share professional information.
  • Act as a career mentor to students and other alumni
  • Serve on a panel for career networking events
  • Conduct practice interviews for students and other alumni
  • Come into our classrooms as a guest expert about your career path
  • Recruit and hire interns for your company
  • Serving as a speaker at the annual Senior Brunch

MyDuquesne includes new and enhanced networking functions. Visit MyDuquesne and click "Career Center" to:

  • Create and post your own Business WebCard, Mentor Profile or Resume Profile
  • Search the Community for networking opportunities.

Advocacy for Duquesne: Alumni can be powerful advocates for Duquesne University in a number of ways. Active alumni can volunteer with their own telephone or computer desktop, travel within their local community, and even return back to campus for special advocacy activities. The Alumni Advocacy program seeks to inform alumni of relevant issues, inspire them to want to help out, and involve them in constructive solutions through volunteer opportunities. Note: Advocates must receive special training and work in concert with the Public Affairs office and a grassroots network of alumni.

Community Service: Duquesne students, faculty and staff are heavily involved in voluntary service. Duquesne is one of only 100 universities nationwide (only six in Pennsylvania) named to the federal government’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll.

Alumni are encouraged to volunteer services on campus or within their community in the name of Duquesne University.

Interact with Students: DUAA and Alumni Relations are always cooking up new ways for alumni to interact with students in a fun atmosphere. Our latest opportunity is “Guest Alumni Chefs.” Serve God by serving students…your favorite recipes, that is. The Alumni Association and ARAMARK invite you to be a "Guest Alumni Chef" for a night in an on-campus dining facility. No professional training is required, and we'll supply your ingredients.

To sign up or learn more, or to suggest new ideas for alumni-student interaction, contact Alumni Relations.
