Alumni can be powerful advocates for Duquesne University in a number of ways. Active alumni can volunteer with their own telephone or computer desktop, travel within their local community, and even return back to campus for special advocacy activities. The Alumni Advocacy program seeks to inform alumni of relevant issues, inspire them to want to help out, and involve them in constructive solutions through volunteer opportunities. The following activities are ways that alumni can serve Duquesne as Legislative Advocates:
- The Alumni Association strives to motivate, guide and furnish volunteers with tools so they can personally and effectively promote Duquesne at every opportunity, both within and outside of the region.
- Writing letters, making phone calls and personal visits to elected officials and/or media in Pittsburgh when public issues involving Duquesne University would benefit from alumni input.
- Writing letters, making phone calls and personal visits to elected officials and/or media in Pennsylvania when issues on education and financial aid negatively impact Duquesne University and/or our students.
Note: Advocates must receive special training and work in concert with the Public Affairs office and a grassroots network of alumni.
